Google Turns 12
When Google turned 12, they commissioned Wayne Thiebaud, one of the few living painting masters, to design the Google logo for that day. Early in his career, Thiebaud's paintings of cakes helped launch his career.
The changing Google logos, which began after the two founders attended Burning Man, create buzz whenever a new one appears. Design for engagement.
This interview with Wayne Thiebaud is a good snapshot of both his way of thinking and his work. It also provides great insight into professionalism. At 89, he's still the articulate, charming and generous person he has been throughout his career. The New York Times did an excellent article about Thiebaud that week.
